Analysis

Regular long-form pieces.

In 1790, the most forward-thinking minds of France established a political club in the Cordelier district of Paris. Their mission was singular: replace the tyranny of the King with a free and democratic government. Just four years later, these same men had embarked on a murderous Reign of Terror to implement their vision for France by any means necessary. Replacing a brutal absolutist monarchy with their own twisted regime. In response to this grizzly corruption of his once beloved club, Camille Desmoulins began writing Le Vieux Cordelier (the Old Cordelier) to remind his former friends of the noble principles for which they once stood.

We carry on this tradition by reminding our leaders of the values that make our country great. To chart a brighter course for America while keeping our founding principles close to heart. The Cordelier is committed to shining a light on the often-overlocked stories that drive politics and government while providing insight into the people and organizations that run our country.
